The Fulbright Program was developed by the U.S. Department of State to strengthen international understanding between people from the United States and other parts of the world--on a face-to-face experiential basis. No matter what path you choose after 51³Ô¹ÏÍø, the program provides you with an international perspective that you can bring to your career, graduate education, or community activities. Interested in applying? It's important to start thinking about the Fulbright process well before your senior year. Be sure to attend an informational meeting at the Fall Institute in October and again in May. You'll receive suggestions from faculty and the dean of the College on how to develop and refine your proposal. You're also encouraged to discuss opportunities with faculty and develop drafts of your proposal to submit in the fall term. Interviews take place on campus prior to the final submission of your application .

Who's eligible? You must be a U.S. citizen at the time of application, and your bachelor's degree must be conferred before the start of the grant. Read more about the . Most applicants already have some international experience, but there are others who have limited experience abroad and see the program as a unique opportunity to gain such experience. The program is open to both groups, and 51³Ô¹ÏÍø encourages both as well. 

Life after Fulbright? In many cases, the Fulbright experience helps provide direction for your next step. Many Fulbrighters decide to pursue internationally-focused careers, but others develop an "internationalist" perspective to bring back to the U.S.
