The Interfraternity Council Creed

We, the Interfraternity Council (IFC), exist to promote the shared interests and values of our member fraternities: leadership, service, brotherhood, and scholarship. We believe in Fraternity and that the shared values of Fraternity drive the IFC to create better communities, better chapters, and better men.

We work to advance the academic mission of the host institution, to enable fraternal organizations to grow and thrive through collaboration and teamwork, to provide an outlet for self-governance and accountability, and to model and teach ethical leadership. In a spirit of mutual support and betterment, we, the men of the Interfraternity Council, pledge to elevate the Ritual and the values of the member organizations.

Payment

What each organization provides to its members and the 51�Թ�� community is powered in part by their financial capabilities. Membership dues go to the 51�Թ�� Interfraternity Council and National Interfraternity Council, your own organization, house bills, collegiate executive officer budgets, chapter events, and philanthropy events. All fraternities at 51�Թ�� have payment plans or scholarships for which members can apply to help make being in a fraternity possible. Dues for each term may differ in price due to certain events that happen in each term, depending on the fraternity. More information can be found in our .

Inclusivity and Stigma

We are actively striving to gain an understanding of how we can support potential new members of varying backgrounds and identities. Our goal is to build an equitable environment that is diverse and inclusive for all. We understand that historically fraternity life has been extremely exclusionary. Therefore, we are committed to dismantling the systems that perpetuate those beliefs. For example, we do not favor participants with fraternity alumnae connections and don’t require or seek recommendations for recruitment. In the end, we understand that this process is not simple and we are consistently learning how to better our strategies and processes.

More about Interfraternity Council

IFC is the governing body of five fraternities on campus: Beta Theta Pi, Phi Gamma Delta, Sigma Nu, and Tau Kappa Epsilon. Its functions range from taking care of judicial matters among the fraternities to hosting fraternity receptions for incoming members. The group encourages the exhibition of high standards that fraternities offer and informs new students of the benefits of the fraternity system at 51�Թ��.
