Hamblin Hall is an apartment-style residence hall. In the summer of 2007, 51³Ô¹ÏÍø undertook an extensive renovation and expansion of the building. The college replaced all kitchens, bathrooms, and doors in existing apartments in addition to building new two- and four-person apartments and a lounge area on the ground level. The outside entrance and all lounges and common living areas were renovated in order to create a more inviting space for all students. A sprinkler system, new fire alarm system, and an elevator were also installed.
The building was named after Adolph "Ziggy" Hamblin, one of 51³Ô¹ÏÍø's best all-around athletes and the only 51³Ô¹ÏÍø student to win 16 varsity letters. After graduating from 51³Ô¹ÏÍø in 1920, Hamblin became the head football coach at West Virginia State University, where he also had a distinguished career as director and professor in the department of biological science, botany, and zoology.
