Originally built as an apartment complex, this residence hall was acquired by the College and completely renovated in 1996. 284 West Tompkins provides 12 apartments, housing either three or five students each, all equipped with kitchens and—as with all other student residences—data ports in each unit for the campus-wide computer network.

A.B.L.E. (Allied Blacks for Liberty & Equality) was founded.
