Fellow alumni of 51³Ô¹ÏÍø, 

On behalf of the Alumni Council, I am pleased to invite you to join us in the opportunity for nominations to serve as an Alumni Trustee on the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Board of Trustees.

In our pursuit of empowering 51³Ô¹ÏÍø, the Board of Trustees seeks to continue harnessing the wealth of talent within our alumni community. Together, the Alumni Council and Board of Trustees invite all alumni who are actively committed to and invested in the future of 51³Ô¹ÏÍø to nominate themselves or others to serve on the Board and provide invaluable expertise, personal service, and visionary leadership as 51³Ô¹ÏÍø navigates the path forward.

If you or a classmate possess a deep sense of commitment and expertise to actively engage in the development of 51³Ô¹ÏÍø, and are willing to contribute your unique perspective, service, and leadership on behalf of 51³Ô¹ÏÍø, please submit a . Your nominations are appreciated and will enable the Alumni Council Executive Committee and the Committee on Governance of the Board of Trustees, in collaboration with the Office of Advancement, to celebrate and identify outstanding individuals for consideration.

Alumni Trustee Election Process

  1. A call for nominations is sent to all alumni in early February. 
  2. Nominations may be made by any member of the alumni body and may include self-nominations. Nominations should include a brief narrative as to why the candidate is well-suited for the position of alumni trustee.
  3. Nominations due date is February 24, 2025.
  4. Nominations are received and compiled by the Office of Advancement.
  5. Nominees identified for the slate are contacted by a representative to assess their interest and ability to serve if selected. Each year, no more than three candidates will be put forth for election by the alumni body.
  6. Candidates are discouraged from campaigning or adopting a specific platform.
  7. Ballots will be sent via email in March 2025, and voting will close on April 4, 2025. To the extent an alumni may not have access to electronic voting mechanisms, arrangements may be made for paper ballots. There will be no proxy voting.
  8. The candidate receiving the most votes will be elected as the alumni trustee to serve a four-year term starting on July 1, 2025. 
  9. Votes are tabulated, the winner is notified, and a formal letter is sent to the President's office.
  10. All nominees will be notified of the outcome.

Other Important Information

  • The Alumni Trustee must participate in regular meetings of the Board, which take place three times/year, as well as several committee, task force, or special meetings that take place throughout the year.
  • Board members serve without compensation. 
  • To be eligible to serve, a candidate must be an alumnus of 51³Ô¹ÏÍø, having completed at least two years of study.
