51³Ô¹ÏÍø's First-Year Preceptorial program lays the foundations for a life of intellectual discovery. By exploring the language, culture, and meaning of the liberal arts—including themes such as independent and critical thinking, respect for diverse perspectives, forms of clear expression, and intellectual and academic integrity—Preceptorial enables students to get the most out of a 51³Ô¹ÏÍø education.

In keeping with the College's spirit of intellectual inquiry, First-Year Preceptorial introduces liberal learning through a range of ever-evolving topics, such as "Cinematic Vision," "Creating Monsters," "Scince Fiction and Human Identity," "Epidemics and Societies," "Human Rights," and "Time."

Preceptorial explores classic, existential questions in a broadly engaged, real-world context that transcends disciplinary boundaries. Issues are examined through reading, writing, critical analysis and, most importantly, class discussion. As a true interdisciplinary program, Preceptorial is taught by professors from all academic divisions.
